Creating More Welcoming Newborn Care Spaces at JOOTRH

It started with a simple idea: healthcare spaces can also be spaces of comfort, warmth and hope.

Following our earlier newborn-unit painting initiatives, Hatch Technologies continued this journey at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).

This time, we brought the same spirit of colour and creativity to the hospital’s Newborn Unit, transforming its walls with artwork inspired by babies, nature, trees, and the simple beauty of childhood.

What may look like a painting project is, to us, something more.

A newborn unit is a place where families experience uncertainty, hope, and some of their most important moments. Creating a brighter and more welcoming environment can help make that experience feel a little more human.

For the healthcare teams working there every day, it also creates a space that feels more uplifting as they care for newborns and their families.

The JOOTRH initiative is another step in our continued commitment to supporting better maternal and newborn healthcare environments across Kenya and beyond.

We believe that improving healthcare is not only about the technologies we provide. It is also about the people, places, and experiences surrounding care.

And sometimes, a little colour can help bring a little more hope into the room.

This is another chapter in our journey, and we look forward to creating more meaningful impact, one healthcare space at a time.
